moneyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy Essays - Network Topology, Network Architecture

, token ring and FIDDI, and wireless, including advantages and disadvantages. Network topology connects pairs of nodes of a network using patterns of links. Mesh Topology Mesh topology connects each device in a network to every other device in the network. Some advantages of a mesh topology are that it can work over a long distance, it is reliable, and it provides redundancy and it one device fails the backup device can take over the loss data. Disadvantages of mesh are that is complicate and expensive. Bus Topology A bus topology connects a workstation along an open cable or backbone. It is usually connected by an Ethernet cable. Advantages that are listed are that installation and administration is low cost, it is easier to configure and easier to expand on and connect to. Disadvantages that are listed include, limitations, difficulty troubleshooting, if a problem occurs on the backbone the entire network would go down. Ring Topology A ring topology is when two or more nodes are connected to a workstation to create a ring. Data is sent around the loop in one direction. Advantages of a ring topology includes equal access to all workstations, each node on the ring acts as a repeater, and usage of coaxial cables that creates the ring allows the service to be much faster. Disadvantages includes difficulty troubleshooting, if one connection fails it is hard to determine where the problem, reconfiguring of a ring topology will shut down the network. Ring topology is often the most expensive within topology. Star Topology In a star topology all devices are connected to a central hub. A star topology is wired as a star but handles network traffic as a ring. Advantages and disadvantages of a star topology include easy implementation, well for temporary networks, failure to a non central node will not have major effects on the network, maintenance cost is higher, failure to the central nodes can disable the entire network, and difficult installation. I will now explain some terminology associated with network architecture. The network architecture refers to its overall structure (Tomsho, Tittel, Johnson, 2004 pg. 241). I will explain the different network architecture including advantages and disadvantages. Ethernet Wikipedia (2006) defines Ethernet as a framed based computer networking technology for local area networks. Ethernet is mostly standardized as IEE 802.3. Some of its advantages include easy installation and low cost. It supports man different kinds of networking media. Token Ring The token ring architecture was developed as an IEEE specification 802.5. Wikipedia (2006) states token rings are organized in a ring topology with data being transmitted from one ring station to the next with a control circulating around the ring controlling access. Advantages are fast, reliable transport, but are cable as a star. Disadvantages include being very expensive, difficult troubleshooting. FDDI FIDDI stands for Fiber Distributed Data Interface. FDDI uses the token passing channel access method using dual counter-routing rings for redundancy. FDDI advantages are it has high security, very fast, reliable and covers great long distance and disadvantages are that it is very expensive and difficult to install. Wireless Webopedia defines wireless network as a method of communication that uses low powered radio waves to transmit data between drives. Advantages of wireless network are a wireless connection does not have to search for a hub, easy accessibility and set up is fast, less expensive to installed than a wired network, it is convenient, and great for mobility. Disadvantages of a wireless network are less security than a wired network, decrease bandwidth, and file transfer is slow. OSI Model and TCP/IP Open System Interconnection or OSI Model is a standard reference model for communication between two end users in a network. Transmission control protocol is one of main protocols in TCP/IP network. TCP enables tow host to establish a connection and exchange streams of data (Webopedia, 2006). Internet protocol is the second protocol in the TCP/IP network. In the OSI model, TCP corresponds with layer two which is the transport layer and IP corresponds with the layer three or the network layer. TCP transport is used to deliver data across the network. IP is responsible for routing and directing data from one network to another. . References Juipterweb (2006). Definition. Through the story, Byron goes through different emotions and even goes as far as trying to be a little more metro sexual himself. He finds that even though having a sex change is not for him, that It could possibly be the right thing for Jack to do. People go their entire life trying to figure what life Is all about, sometimes It takes a sex change to help with this process. Each was afraid of telling his long time friend and co-workers that he was going to become a woman. With as much television people watch, and the freedom television has to show pretty much whatever they want, people are desensitizing from people having sex changes. Although, when Chastity Bono had her sex change, the media blew It up. Having a daughter from the famous couple, Sonny and Cheer, have a rearranged change was unreal to the world. Chastity, now known as Chase, had the same thoughts and feelings as Jack They both knew they were different from when they were kids. Dealing with this big of a situation, as a young person, is mind boggling. Having the stress of what should be for an adult could really make a person mature a lot faster. Every person goes through it, but a lot of people dont go through the life changing decision Each has. As Byron tries to comprehend what Each has told him, he In turns goes through a bunch of life questions. Being an adult and having a friend of 38 years all of a Eden decided he wants to become a woman is hard to deal with. People become comfortable with the way everything is in their life. When people decide to change their sex its an uncommon situation. It makes people step back, and take another look at the world to see what else is different or changing. Byron is confused with Coachs decision as well. Byron doesnt understand how you can g your whole life as a man and then all of a sudden change what you are. The world Is a different place then it was 20 years ago. People are more open to change, yet some people cant understand why things need to change. He notices that people look at him as an outcast or different. As he went back to work. He finally was seen by Jack, now known as Zoe, and noticed Byron with the makeup. Zoe then said, the makeup Youre trying to be something youre not (1243). Byron Is not the type to wear makeup, but when people try to figure life out, they tend to try the extreme to see if it helps on understanding. Byron finds out that it does help to understand. Zoos life altering surgery is something that she has wanted for a while. While it could possibly change his career status, he still is ready to take on all challenges. When people look at a person who has had a sex change, majority of them dont see a normal person, teen see a Treat I . As enrolled Ana Lusting mina set, out teen customs and courtesies that were instilled into the youth show this change as not appropriate. Society doesnt see this as something that could possibly benefit this person and the world. Megan Wallet is a perfect example of a person who has had a sex change, and is benefiting our society. She once was known as Michael Wallet, and had the same thoughts and feeling as Zoe. He knew that he was a woman who was trapped in a males body. Megan was an up and coming manager at Microsoft. He knew that by having this sex change, it could affect his position and promoting at the business. After everything was said and done Megan is now one position with being the vice president of Microsoft. Although Zoe does not want to continue her career at the lab, she does believe that this sex change gives her a second chance to try something new. Having a second chance in life, is something that everyone could consider having. Just some people dont want to go to the extent of having a sex change to get it. Megan is a true life example that choices that they take to have a sex change could benefit themselves. People think they have life all figured out, even kids think they have life figured out. Lots of people still in their lifetime will not have figured life out. With the process of sex change, Zoe believes it will help her to get on the right track to getting closer to this question. The change Just has to be accepted by her peers and by her best friend. Once they know why shes doing it, and how it will help her in life, then will hey know why and how its a good thing.

Individualism Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 1000 words - 1

Individualism - Essay Example These ideas are quite useful for me as an individual and resonate perfectly well with the visions I have, this is despite the variation of the perspectives that the writers potent. I believe that they relate to me especially during this year of 2013. Emerson in his writing indicates what he notices with the verses written by eminent painter that â€Å"†¦Let the subject be what it may. The sentiment they create is of more important than any idea they may contain†¦Ã¢â‚¬ when reasoning sheer from thoughts to emotions, then the pronouncement of individual reasoning is clouded by the societal sentiments which is always swayed by propaganda and lack of reasoning. Emerson further notes that â€Å"...We but half depict ourselves, and are ashamed of that divine idea which each of us portray in the society†¦Ã¢â‚¬ these sentiments points to the fact that we develop feelings that we believe concerns the next party. Shame as an emotion forces us to consider a lot more about t he feelings of others based on our actions. I believe that what is correct is correct and anything that is wrong is wrong .Standard should be set by ourselves to ensure that we live our potential rather than those individuals who might not necessarily share our views and thoughts. In his writing to reveal lack of self-trust, Emerson points the argument that â€Å"†¦accepts the scenario the divine facet has set for you, the current society, as well as the inter-connection of events†¦Ã¢â‚¬ This argument has a direct revelation of how the society confines people into conventional thinking. It restricts growth and makes no one to think differently even if the same methods make no improvement in the life of the individuals in that particular society. In the writings that reveal the role of the youths, Emerson brings to our attention to the suggestion that â€Å"†¦Do not be deceived that the youths do not have any effect in the society, because they cannot speak for the mselves. Hark! In the next room their voices are effectively clear and emphatic. It is evident that they can speak in the current society. Bashful or bold, there comes a time when they will make their seniors unnecessary in the society†¦Ã¢â‚¬ In the argument, it is evident that the youths have no say, perhaps because they are not allowed based on traditions and culture. Their potential is unearthed and they energy is not adequately exhausted. The society is not able to think and has set time bomb for not allowing the youths to think too, despite their ability to think. The argument indicates that the old age has refused to allow for the inevitable changes and this paralyses the society. Emerson reveals the comfort portrayed among the youthful members of the society. In the writings, he points that â€Å"†¦The nonchalance group of boys who are certain of dinner, and would contemn and behave like lords to reconcile one, is the healthy features of human nature†¦Ã¢â‚¬ He indicates that this raises irresponsible and troublesome members of the society. I believe Emerson is much interested in revealing what role is played by the individualistic character to ensure that the children grow to be both entrepreneurial and self-reliant. Putting them in a comfort zone does in no way allow them to understand the consequences of the actions that they make. A society that is not creative can as

Growth and earnings per share Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Growth and earnings per share - Essay Example This reporting effects business operations in a positive manner by changing their course according to the report. Income growth helps organizations realize their profitability and income generation, according to this the stakeholders are given their share of profit in the form of more stocks or cash. This effects the business operations in a positive manner as they are pointing towards a positive direction. The earning per share helps the company decide the price of their stock, as the company's earning per share increases it becomes more profitable. EPS also helps tell the stakeholders the position of the company in the market and the risk associated with it. This effects the business operations of the company and they try to organize their operations according to the plans and strategy that are being implemented by the company. All these three revenue growth, income growth and earning per share are the fundamentals of the business and their overall impact on the business operations is to aware the management of the necessary changes that are required. Net profit and cash flow are two separate things that help in analyzing the business progress and where a company is heading to. These two also determine whether the company is a success or a failure. The two components help the company in organizing itself and predicting the future. Net profit is basically all the revenue minus cost of goods sold which equals to gross profit then we minus the operating expenses from the gross profit we get the net profit. Net profit is then used to pay the dividends to stake holders and save amount for future investments. Cash Flow: Cash flow is basically all the cash that is flowing into the company and all the cash that is going out of the company. Cash flow only includes current assets and mainly is cash related. The cash flow does not include the assets and other profit related aspects of the Income Statement. The difference between the two components is that net income indicates the money that has been generated by the company but cash flow only indicates the money flowing out and coming into the company, though both of the components have an important use for the business but are different from each other. If a company runs out of available cash it has problems paying employees and running business operations. Another major difference between profit and cash flow is that when a product is sold and as it may have been sold on credit the profit is realized immediately but the cash flow is recorded when the cash is received. The 2005 article "Understanding your Balance Sheet" describes three categories of assets. What are they Give examples of what belongs in each category. The balance sheet is an instrument that helps government know how much a company owns and how they are positioned. A balance sheet has all the assets on one side and the liabilities and capital on the other side. Both sides balance each other. The assets column mainly consists of three types of assets. Current Assets Current asset refer to those holdings of the company that can be easily liquefied and exchanged for cash. For example cash

Summary on Do Animals Have Culture Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Summary on Do Animals Have Culture - Essay Example No matter how much mistreatment a dog receives from his master, the dog does not mind so much and still shows his loyalty. I managed a boarding house before and the owner left without picking up his dog. The dog, which I didn't pay attention much to - except to expect it to guard my house - grew up without as much food from me. Home from my classes each night, I would find him there at the gate faithfully waiting for me to come home, no matter how late it was. It was as though his life was not complete without me going home. This dog has taught me compassion for others and kind regard for those I did not expect anything from. I left my home for three days and when I came home finally, I was surprised not to find him. Calling and calling out his name, I got alarmed and felt that something may have happened. In a corner among the grasses, I found him gasping for his last breathe. It was like he had answered to his name when I called as he wagged his tail a little. Finally, he died. For quite a while, I mourned as though a part of me died, too. I do not think I would have an experience as profound as I had with this dog. His world is different and yet we were able to strike up a master-slave relationship.

Lockes Criterion Of Personal Identity

Lockes Criterion Of Personal Identity Who am I? What makes me, me? The theory of personal identity has been considered one of the most complicated questions that philosophy has taken a deeper look into. The theory of personal identity tries to deal with the questions about how an individual at one time and place is the same individual at another time and place. When we look at personal identity, we are trying to figure out what sets us apart from other pieces of matter, species and individuals. In this essay I will discuss John Lockes criterion of sameness of consciousness for the theory of personal identity and why he does not think that other physical or psychological criteria fit, a challenge to Lockes criterion posed by Thomas Reid using the logic of transitivity analogy, and lastly how the suggested idea of overlapping chains of memory that Derek Parfit poses to reform Lockes view so that it may meet the challenge posed by Thomas Reid is a good solution to the challenge because it keeps Lockes theory intact and also adds the transitivity property that Reid challenges Lockes theory on. When discussing personal identity, the criterion of identity will strongly depend on the object that you are talking about. There have been many viewpoints as to what the criterion of personal identity of the self or a person is. Some viewpoints suggest that the criterion for the self is organic; that our body is what identifies us over time. Locke states that this criterion is not applicable for personal identity of a person because of situations like body switch (Freaky Friday situation). If the consciousness of two people were to switch, everyone would think that you are the same person because you look like the same person. However, it is not actually you in your body and because there is a different consciousness in your body, and your body is no longer you; your body cannot define your personal identity. Other views describe the criterion as being substance that makes us the same over time. Substance includes both non-physical (soul) and physical substances. According to Locke, substance as a criterion is not applicable for personal identity of a person because of situations like death. When you die, you may be made of the same substance, but if you cease to think (thinking is connected to being a person) then you cease to exist and have no personal identity. Locke looks towards a psychological criterion to define personal identity of a person. According to Locke, a person or the self is different than just matter and just a living thing. A person is a thinking intelligent being that has reason and reflection and can consider itself as itself, the same thinking thing in different times and places; which it does only by that consciousness which is inseparable from thinking. This describes what is known as sameness of consciousness. We are the same person to the point where we are conscious of our past and future memory or mental state in the same way that we are conscious of our current memory or mental state. This criterion can also be broken down into an analogy said by Locke: person x is the same as person y if person y is consciously connected to x in the sense that person y can remember the thoughts and actions of person x. According to Locke, the necessary criterion of personal identity is sameness of consciousness. This sameness of consciousness comes directly from memory and experience. Locke believes that the sameness of consciousness is the ideal criterion of personal identity for a person because since consciousness is always connected to thinking, and being able to think is what makes a person a person and allows that person to distinguish its own thoughts from anothers, as far back as our consciousness can be extended to any past thought, so far back will our identity extend. As far back as the person can repeat or reflect on a past thought or action with its current consciousness, so far back is the personal identity of the person. Thomas Reid, as well as many other philosophers and critics who oppose the idea of sameness of consciousness criterion, otherwise known as memory theory, have a very hard time agreeing that sameness of consciousness is a necessary criterion for personal identity. They understand that the sufficient condition that the view of sameness of consciousness criterion is trying to state is achievable; if I remember eating a triple chocolate fudge bar, then I must have been the one that really ate the triple chocolate fudge bar. However, they dont understand how sameness of consciousness is a necessary condition for personal identity; that if I cannot remember eating the triple chocolate fudge bar, then it is impossible that I was the one who ate the triple chocolate fudge bar. The fact that it is impossible for you to have the same personal identity if you cannot remember that past thought or action is where Reids challenge arises. Reids challenge towards Lockes theory is presented in the form of the logic of transitivity analogy that states that if x is related to y, and y is related to z, then x is related to z. Using a modern example, Reids theory follows that the little girl who played in the sand(x) is the same person who was a student at the University of Toronto(y) and the person who was a student at the University of Toronto(y) is the same as the woman who is CEO of a banking firm(z), and therefore using the logic of transitivity, the little girl who played in the sand(x) is therefore the same person as the woman who is CEO of a banking firm(z). Reid successfully shows that transitivity allows the little girl who played in the sand and the woman who is CEO of a banking firm to have the same personal identity despite the fact that the woman who is CEO of a banking firm may not remember ever being the little girl who played in the sand. Due to the fact that Reids challenge is successful in showing that th e CEO and the little girl who played in the sand can be the same person and share the same personal identity, it shows that Lockes theory denies the fact that the CEO and the little girl who played in the sand are the same person which ignores the logic of transitivity and is therefore false. Lockes criterion does not take into consideration the transitivity property and Reids challenge points out this clear and big flaw. Reids challenge explains that Lockes criterion of personal identity completely ignores the logic of transitivity. His challenge proves that Lockes criterion, without any changes applied, fails because it cannot just ignore the transivity property. However, Derek Parfit, a British philosopher who also explored the topic of personal identity, suggested a possible solution to slightly change Lockes criterion to make it so that it meets this challenge. Parfits suggested solution is to make the criterion of personal identity overlapping chains of memory. Going back to the modern example of the little girl who played in the sand and the CEO, Parfits suggested solution would state that if the student at the University of Toronto could remember being the little girl who played in the sand, and the CEO remembered being the student at the University of Toronto, then this overlapping chain of memories would allow the CEO to be the same person as the little girl who played in the sand. This solution helps Lockes theory overcome Reids challenge while still defending the core parts of Lockes theory. Parfits overlapping memory theory allows for the CEO and the little girl to be the same person, which covers the transitivity property. It allows x to be the same person as z. It also still allows for sameness of consciousness or memory theory to be the necessary criterion of personal identity. It fulfills the sufficient condition of the criterion: if I remember eating a triple chocolate fudge bar, then I must have been the one that really ate the triple chocolate fudge bar, and fulfills the necessary condition of the criterion: If I dont remember eating a triple chocolate fudge bar, as long as I remember buying the chocolate fudge bar to eat than I am the same person who later ate the triple fudge chocolate bar because I have overlapping chains of memory that allow me to be the same person. The necessary condition is fulfilled because it shows that through the overlappin g chains of memory I may not remember everything but as long as I remember enough to continue the chain of memories, I will be the same person. Although this solution is a sound response to Reids challenge, it does not give a specific conclusion for what the criterion of identity truly is. It states that instead of the criterion being one specific definition, it is more like a group of experience, memories and thoughts that make us the same person at time one and time two. However, Parfits argument is a sound response to Reids challenge and therefore does successfully transform Lockes view so that it will meet the transitivity property as well as the necessary condition of consciousness. Overall, Lockes view on personal identity is just one of many and there will be many more to come on this complicated and deep topic.

Television Commercials Designed for the Female Audience Essay -- Explo

Television Commercials Designed for the Female Audience The television commercial is perhaps the most effective means of product marketing and advertisement. Television is present in 99% of American households, and it stays turned on an average of seven hours per day. (http://www.envirolink.com/) The television audience is a varied, widespread audience, ensuring manufacturers that their products' advertisements are reaching all possible customers. Obviously, not all products are produced for all consumers. Market analysts and advertisers must find advertising techniques that can be used in commercials for certain target customers and use those commercials to directly affect the ideal customer for the product. Gender, social, and cultural ideologies are often used to influence the audience. The vast array of possible studies on commercials includes gender differences and influences on the development of children, demographic stereotypes and the effects on society, even the use of dialogue and its importance to the advertisement; however, I 've focused on a slightly more narrow path of research and observation. I have narrowed down the comparisons of gender differences to focus only on the female's place in the commercial world and how television advertisements change their approach for different age groups. By observing five basic parts of the commercial-- the camera work, the product advertised, the sound, the actors, and the action- I was able to focus on the advertiser's ideas of the female child, teenager, adult, and elder, and sort similarities, differences, and correlations between the commercials of the different age groups. The subject of my research was approximately 190 commercials, recorded over a period of one ... ... as energetic fun-seekers- are influential or not will be determined by the consumer and his or her pocketbook and the advertiser's continued ability to hit that target. Popcorn Lab Report

Biology 101 Popcorn experiment Lab partners Robert Barham Michelle hall Diva Mancada Kelley Pritt 1 Introduction Popcorn, or popping corn, is a type of corn which explodes from a kernel and puffs up when heated. It is a popular snack food, especially in movie theaters. Popcorn can be salted or sweetened. Air popped popcorn is naturally high in fiber, low in calories and fat, contains no sodium and is sugar free. This can make it an attractive snack for people with caloric or dietary restrictions. Large amounts of fat, sugar and sodium are often added to prepared popcorn tat can convert it into a high calorie snack. hypothesis Orvill Redenbacher has larger popped kernels and less un-popped kernels than Act II. 3 Material Method Two brand name popcorn packages are being tested. Act II and Orvill Redenbacher. Both are tested in the same microwave. The same time is being used (2. 5 Minutes). Both packages were weighed before and after the popping procedure, the results were recorded. Tot al cooking time was measured and recorded for both popcorn packages. 10 randomly selected popped kernels from each package were measured with a ruler and results were recorded. Average size for both were calculated and recorded. All un-popped kernels ere collected from each package and weighed in a dish. The weight of the dish was subtracted from the total weight to find the weight of un-popped kernels from each brand. The percentage was calculated and compared. 4 Results Weight before cooking Orvill Redenbacher – 104. 77g Act II – 97. 9g *Act II package is smaller tan Orvill Redenbacher by 6. 84g. Table 1 *Microwave timer was set for 2. 5 minutes ? *Table 1 shows that Orvill Redenbacher has a faster cooking time than Act II. Weight after cooking Act II 87. 6g O. R. 93. 85g *Act II package is smaller than Orvill Redenbacher by 6. 79g Table 2 ? (Calculations) 3. 14g/87. 06 x 100 = 3. 6% and 3. 42g/93. 85g x 100 = 3. 6% *The Results showed that the percentage of un-poppe d kernels in both packages was the same. Table 3 (Popped kernels in mm) ? Table 3 showed that the average size of popped kernels of Orvill Redenbacher was larger than Act II. 5 Discussion The results showed that Orvill Redenbacher brand had faster cooking time than Act II and weighed more overall. The experiment also showed that both brands had the same percentage of un-popped kernels. Since Orville Redenbacher weighed more than Act II we were able to determine that Orville Redenbacher had more un-popped kernels by weight The experiment also showed that the size of the popped kernels was larger in the Orville Redenbacher brand. 6 Conclusion The hypothesis was partially supported by the data. Orville Redenbacer brand has larger popped kernels than Act II. The percentage of un-popped kernels in both brands was the same but, the weight of the un-popped kernels in the Orville Redenbacher brand was more due to the higher un-popped weight of the package.

A Critique of For Gay Marriage, by Andrew Sullivan

A Critique of For Gay Marriage, by Andrew Sullivan In Andrew Sullivan's article, "For Gay Marriage", he is a man on a mission. He appears to be so fully committed to democratic values that he seeks to extend equal rights in marriage to homosexuals. And he makes an admirable case for equality and dignity for all people, including homosexuals. However, he could make an even stronger case by citing more studies and expert opinions.Although Sullivan's meaning is well taken by sympathetic readers, the fact is that he could overcome much of the ambiguity of his presentation by citing more concrete studies, including long-term studies, which support his key points. For example, when he makes the assertion that "in some ways the marriage issue is exactly parallel to the military" (283), it is unclear exactly what he means. Is he referring to prejudice against gay soldiers? On the other hand, is he referring to a common requirement of self-sacrifice? The answer is simply not clear because Sullivan never cites any studies of the problem he has in mind.English: This protester was on his own and letting...An even more important point for Sullivan concerns child-rearing. He asserts, one may say correctly if he already shares Sullivan's opinion, that children raised by homosexual partners are as well adjusted as children raised by traditional, heterosexual parents. This would be a perfect opportunity for Sullivan to cite several well-conducted, long-term studies which bear out his view. But does he take the opportunity? Does he cite any studies? No, not one.Another key point for Sullivan concerns the relative importance of legalizing gay marriage. He asserts that "if nothing else were done at all, and gay marriage were legalized, 90% of the political work necessary to achieve gay and lesbian equality would have been achieved" (285). But, Sullivan never explains where he gets the figure 90%. He could explain if...

Good Order and Discipline Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 750 words

Good Order and Discipline - Essay Example Good Order and Discipline Recently in the United States, there have been reports of army men being discharged from the army without honor due to lack of good order and discipline. Other professionals are also expected to maintain good order and discipline. The same applies to teachers who are expected to instill the virtue of good order and discipline to their students. This notion is used as a yard stick in almost every concept of life. So the pertinent question remains what is good order and discipline? For purposes of better understanding Ireland describes this phrase in the form of two entities before integrating it into one. Discipline is defined as the capability to do something in accordance with set regulations and laws. The phrase good order is taken to mean ‘doing something in the right manner’. In totality, good order and discipline are generally taken to mean training to follow set rules and regulations and also to act in the right manner. All military organizations have set regulatio ns and any military member is expected to be aware of and follow these rules. Any conduct prejudicial to this effect is considered an offence and is punishable by law. Being introduced in the military as early as the seventeenth century, it has been developed and is now considered as a catch-all offence. Major revisions are still being done on documents in various countries to make this article more specific. Basically, the article on good conduct and discipline serves to provide several sections of the army. (Michael 100). For instance, in United States of America, it provides policies on issues such as changes of rank, procedure of designation, professional and non-professional relationships between soldiers of different ranks, use of language and even distribution of non-government printed materials. The same is the case in countries such as Britain with several clauses being more specific. A typical example in this case is the honorable discharge of soldiers depending on the cau se of death (Michael 209). According to Miner (90), the realization of the possibility of abuse of power by the military led to the creation of such a regulation. Before its creation, various questions were raised on whether the military maintained well-honed professional skills during their missions. For example it was not surprising to find cases of rape where soldiers visited. Actually, most civilians who underwent such ordeals will remain forever grateful to the unknown prodigy who was the initial conceiver of discipline and good conduct in the military. It is noteworthy to consider that this law has been applied successfully over the years to get rid of unworthy soldiers. Recently, a United States Army member was discharged without honor because of bashing president Barrack Obama. Additionally, members of the army have retired without any problems and in the process they were also able to get their full dues. In cases of work related death or injury, the families are well compe nsated. However, unquestionable empirical and recorded data have also shown the abuse of this code especially by the senior officials in the military. Mostly, this code is used as a tool for framing charges and even vindicating unquestionable crimes. Most army men and women have been unlawfully discharged on ostensibly stated crimes. This raises questions as to the validity of this code and whether it is being applied in some countries. Furthermore, it is contentious in regard to how it is being implemented. In some situations the code is manipulated and obstructs justice. Thus supervision of code is rightfully necessary. It is not only unfair, but inhuman to discharge army personnel on false accusations given the service they offer serving their country (Ireland 78). Apparently, unquestionable data have also shown that some soldiers are unaware of all or part of this code. In some cases, it is the meaning that brings the major difference in this masterly piece of military jurisprud ence. One episode
